Clarity Grade Definitions

Clarity Grade defines the presence of inclusions or blemishes in a gemstone when viewed in the face-up position.

Clarity Grade Description (Face-Up Position)
Clean In the face up position, no inclusion or blemishes are visible by naked eye and loupe.
Lightly Inclusion In the face up position, inclusions are difficult to see by naked eye and have no effect on transparency and appearance of the stone.
Moderately Inclusion In the face up position, inclusions are easily visible by naked eye and have a minor effect on transparency and appearance of the stone.
Highly Inclusion In the face up position, inclusions are very easily visible by naked eye and have a distinct effect on transparency and appearance of the stone.
Heavily Inclusion In the face up position, inclusions are extremely easily visible and have a significant effect on the appearance of the stone.

Clarity Grade Summary

  • Clean: No visible inclusions (naked eye or loupe).

  • Lightly Inclusion: Difficult to see; no effect on appearance.

  • Moderately Inclusion: Easily visible; minor effect on transparency.

  • Highly Inclusion: Very easily visible; distinct effect on transparency.
